In Return of the Living Dead (1985), a gas leak reanimates corpses in a Louisville cemetery, unleashing chaos, brains-hungry zombies, and a punk rock soundtrack that helped redefine the undead. Fast, smart, and darkly funny, this film put a new spin on zombie lore and has remained a fan favorite ever since.
Written and directed by Dan O’Bannon (screenwriter of Alien), it’s a genre mash-up with attitude, memorable effects, and plenty of over-the-top mayhem.
